FINANCIAL
RELIEF FOR REALTORS® |
Information
about REALTOR® Relief financial assistance programs available
now.
NOTE: The EDD will begin taking online
PUA applications on April 28, 2020. In order to provide
benefits as quickly as possible following that date, the EDD announced
that payments will be issued in phases. Initially, benefit payments
will be the minimum amounts ($167 per week of eligibility, plus the
$600 additional payment for certain weeks, as shown in each phase below).
The EDD will work to develop income verification procedures to determine
if individuals are eligible for higher payments, which would apply retroactively
to the first date of eligibility. We will update this information with
any income verification procedures and timing when the EDD makes it
available.

Relief
for REALTORS® as Independent Contractors |
As independent contractors REALTORS® do not have access to the
safety net of
unemployment benefits afforded to millions of salaried and hourly workers.
On March 19th, C.A.R. sent a letter to the California Congressional
Delegation to ask
Congress to include forgivable SBA loans for self-employed independent
contractors in
the next bill providing economic stimulus and relief during the coronavirus
crisis. Under
California’s order, real estate sales, rental leasing, and all
the ancillary industries directly
involved in these activities will come to an immediate halt. An SBA
loan, even with zero
interest rate, will do most independent contractors no good if they
are unable to perform
their work to pay the loan back. CAR
and NAR ask Congress for aid for REALTORS®
Additionally, thanks to the first round of stimulus (Coronavirus Preparedness
and
Response Supplemental Appropriations Act, members can apply online for
Economic
Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL)
