Backpacks for Kids is patterned after a program from the National Association of REALTORS®. “Suitcases for Kids” was founded in 1995 by a 10 year old girl who was moved by the idea that children in foster care programs many times had to transport whatever belongings they possessed in garbage bags.
Backpacks for Kids takes this inspired program a step further and raises funds to not only buy the backpacks but also to fill the backpacks with essential items such as toothbrushes; other toiletry items; games; socks; school supplies; toys, etc. These backpacks are then distributed locally in El Dorado County through Child Protective Services.
This year the proceeds from the EDCAR Golf Tournament scheduled for September 13th, 2010 at the Cameron Park Country Club, will go toward this program.
